Jessica Swan (b.1987); Chicago, IL

In 2005, Jessica graduated Waubonsie Valley High School, a very large, greater-Chicagoland public school, as a full-time, well-recognized art student with an already impressive and exceeding amount of fine art, design, photography, ceramics, painting, drawing, and graphics classes under her belt thanks to the vast class options offered to her throughout her educational career from grade school through high school. She had been presented dozens of fine art awards all throughout these years appreciating her well-recognized and talented work as a young artist.

After a short, full interim semester at College of Dupage (a community college in Chicago) where she studied Drawing and Italian language while applying for college in California, at 18 years of age, Jessica moved to the state of California after being accepted into Brooks College of Long Beach - a highly acclaimed CIDA accredited design program. After almost 3 years of a very vigorous & intensive private trade school program entirely directed towards Interior Design, Jessica was nominated as valedictorian and graduated Magna cum Laude with an Associate of Arts in Interior Design in 2008. She achieved Dean’s List, all terms consecutively, 4.0 GPA. Her professors recommended her as a tutor for many of the courses that were mandatory to design students including Color Theory, Design Fundamentals, Drawing, and Perspective classes. She is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and the Alpha Beta Gamma International Business Honor Society. A few of her awards are as follows:

  • ‘Excellence in AutoCAD’, Emerge Design Graduate Show in Los Angeles, 2008

  • ‘Best Presentation Skills’, Hospitality Studio, Capstone Course, Brooks College 2007

  • ‘Best in Show’, Hospitality Studio, Capstone Course, Brooks College 2007

  • ‘Best in Show for Outstanding Performance in Interior Design’, Winter Design Show, Brooks College 2007

  • ‘Certificate of Merit’, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for Excellence in Visual Arts, 2004

  • ‘Certificate of Nomination’, Congressional Student Leadership Conference, 2004

  • ‘Exhibition Award’, Art Exhibit, Norris Cultural Arts Gallery, 2004 and 2005

In 2008, Jessica moved north to the central coast of California. She continued her educational career at Cuesta College, taking a few more classes such as Watercolor & Life Drawing. She is just shy of a 2nd associate's degree specializing 2D Fine Art.

She uses all of her skills while proficiently utilizing the programs she’s been comfortable with for now two, in some cases, three decades. She has had an opportunity to take part in an extremely VAST array of work all along the coast of California of which she has taken, & continues to take, great pride in over the years - all of which showcase different aspects of her unique talents in every single trade she is engaged in. Instead of mastering one trade, she plans on mastering every professional avenue her creative talents have geared her towards. To the day, she continues to find consistent freelance work offering the any and all services she provides.

Jessica offers her artwork for sale in art shows and art booths exclusively located here in Big Sur, Monterey or Carmel, California. Over the years, she has been spotted selling or displaying her work here and there, but it is a rare event. If you have the opportunity to see her work in person, we highly recommend it.
